My professional background has mostly to do with the legal profession and technology. Before becoming L.L.M. It was quite an interesting road trip. I’ve started working on my first business project, a software store for Windows, together with a friend back in 2009. Since then, I have always tried to combine the two things I love, law, and tech. From working with startups to interning in a law firm to improve business/legal skills it was always and still is quite an interesting journey on finding a way to combine them.
How did Nikola start recruiting?
“Well, to be honest, it started quite accidentally. While I did my master’s thesis in Employment and Social law and specialized in it, back in 2014 I didn’t have any concrete plans. So, my friend called me and asked me if I had the time to help out an NGO that was looking for an IT guy with a good understanding of the law. A few months later at the NGO, we needed to get candidates to fill empty spots for different sectors within the organization. When you get to that point, you have a large number of people circulating, doing interviews with them, and learning on the spot how it all works without any previous experience.”
How did he join the Recrooit team?
“I was writing a post on LinkedIn about how the ATS is getting too robotized and that there is no personal interaction with candidates. Nevena Sofranic (founder of Recrooit) saw the post and we had a conversation about what are the problems in recruiting and how ATS could be changed.”
Like the majority of people at Recrooit, Nikola’s favorite part of the process is communicating with others, whether it’s a candidate or a company representative.
“It’s great to hear gratitude from candidates you hired, as well as hearing the feedback that they are doing well at their new job.”
